There's a fine line between love and friendship...
BETWEEN FRIENDS by AMANDA COWEN
An .co.uk and .ca top-10 bestseller

"If your looking for a fun, read this is sure one you will enjoy!" - Chris's Book Blog Emporium

"Short and sweet story with a adorable HEA for the hero and heroine that I don't think you should pass up!" - Jelena's Book Blog

"The chemistry between Ben and Megan were both funny during the preparations for Jessica's wedding to the most sweetest thing he could do to win her heart!" - Stuck In YA Books Book Blog

When neurotically challenged and unlucky in love Megan Daniels is propositioned by her life-long friend Ben Romano with a coin toss (heads, they sleep together, tails, they don’t) the night before they are about to attend a destination wedding, she drunkenly accepts his challenge. But when Megan wakes up the next morning with a bad hang-over and Ben in her bed, she is more than mortified. It isn’t until the tropical heat begins to ignite emotions Megan never believed or thought she could possibly have, when she starts to question if risking their friendship is the answer to finding true love.

A cute and contemporary debut novel, BETWEEN FRIENDS faces one girl's struggle between the fine lines of friendship and love and the risk of opening up her heart to the possibility of forever.

Between Friends edition by Amanda Cowen Literature Fiction eBooks

This was a cute idea for a story, but more than a little predictable. There were also many errors throughout the story that could have easily been corrected - in my opinion - had the book been better edited. I am beginning to think I should offer my services to indie ebook authors...not to do serious, publishing-house type editing, but maybe to help catch all the little errors I see crop up constantly in so many ebooks. One that has become a giant pet peeve is the use of the word 'awe' when one means 'aww'. As in "Aww, how cute!".

I disliked how the main character, Megan, kept whining about how 'wrong' it was of her to hook up with her best friend, Ben, when clearly they had more than friendly feelings for each other. Some of the best loves are born out of a good, solid friendship.

Megan's friend who was getting married, Jessica, was a complete tool of a bridezilla too. I realize it's supposed to be her special day, but she doesn't have to be a twatwaffle about it. Also, who plans a wedding at a foreign resort without doing any actual planning beforehand? Especially someone who constantly rails about how everything MUST be perfect. NO ONE. This aspect of the story was so unbelievable...no one ever seems to call the bride out for it either, which I find ludicrous.

All in all, everyone acts like morons with the maturity levels of middle schoolers. The writing was atrocious and from what I could tell hadn't been edited at all. I had started out liking this book, but by the end I just wanted it to be over so I could get my money back. The only reason I finished it was so I could make a more comprehensive review. This review has evolved as I have read more of the book and I have become increasingly more exasperated with the author.

Between Friends edition by Amanda Cowen Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Between Friends is the story of best friends who discover they have more than friendly feelings for one another. On a drunken flip of a coin, they end up having sex. Morning comes and our lovely "heroine" shouts at her best friend, telling him it was a mistake and that he should go. She seems to blame him for the entire situation. The poor guy should have just kept on going, never looking back. My quotes around the word heroine are intentional, much like I'd use them if I said I "enjoyed" this book.

This book is filled with errors, from typos and grammatical problems to words used incorrectly. I'm not perfect, but a lot of the errors should have been caught as soon as the words left the author's fingers, so to speak.

The so-called "friends" in this book treat each other horribly. Jessica, the bride, is a self-absorbed, shallow, hateful woman. None of the others seem to be any better. When one of the friends is obviously drunk and falls face-first out of a cab, only one friend shows any concern. Another one slaps the drunken friend (or should I say MORE drunken?) and says she's fine.

The dialogue in this book makes me think of things my children wrote when they were young. Has this author never heard of a contraction? Does every single word need to be used? Example "I am drunk. I should not have had sex with that young woman. She is mean and petty. She is immature." You get the idea. There's this nifty little device called an apostrophe to shorten words and make dialogue sound more natural. "I'm drunk. She's a rude witch. I should've passed on this book." See?

I'm not a big fan of the present-tense, first person narrative, either. Example He looks at me. He kisses my cheek. I grab our luggage. It comes off as very unpolished and unprofessional from a writing standpoint.

Finally, I'm aware of the 17+ warning on this book. I'm not a prude, nor am I averse to a little steamy sex. But drunken sex, casual sex, sex for the sake of "breaking a dry spell"? Ugh. Coarse, vulgar and trashy.

I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. Interesting point, I might've said I'd recommend it to younger readers because of the immaturity of the writing, characters and plot, but that 17+ warning even negated that.
Between Friends was fun, sexy and one great read! As a reader who loves New Adult novels, this was definitely one of those books that people will either love the characters and their personalities or dislike what was going to happen. I thought the story was very clever and was full of love between the characters. There was some grammar, but it was easy to over look. Amanda Cowen has created a good addictive read for all readers who are interested in this new genre!I did wish there was more stories of Megan's friends, because we did not get to see what they were like.

The main character Megan is the maid of honor for her best friend Jessica's wedding in Costa Rica. The night before she meets her best friend Ben for drinks where everything changes with just a coin toss. I though Megan was a bit whiny through some of the situations with what was happening with Ben. What I liked about him was that he was honest with Megan at the same time you get to see what he wants to be with Megan from the beginning of the book. Megan thought it would ruin their relationship as friends with the complication with sex, but as you read the book, they are really perfect for each other. I did like Cowen writing but at times it did have some repetitive words in the beginning of the novel.

Overall, Between Friends was a really quick read for me since I did like it! The chemistry between Ben and Megan were both funny during the preparations for Jessica's wedding to the most sweetest thing he could do to win her heart! The ending was adorable because I was totally routing for these characters! Definitely check this book out if you love romance, tropical setting and friends crossing the line to relationship.
